This position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by serving as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter within a vibrant elementary school setting from now through May 28, 2027. Enjoy a consistent schedule, weekdays from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, working closely with school staff and the educational team to ensure seamless communication for student success.
Qualifications:
- Active Alabama Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license or permit required
- Certification strongly preferred (e.g., RID, EIPA, BEI, or equivalent)
- Prior school-based interpreting experience is highly desirable
- Experience providing one-on-one student support is a plus
- Strong commitment to reliable attendance and the full school calendar
- Ability to adhere to the set schedule with punctual start and finish times
- Professional communication skills and collaborative mindset
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 interpreting services for a student during core school hours
- Bridge communication between the student, staff, and peers in classroom and school activities
- Adapt interpreting style and techniques to match student needs
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all student interactions
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to promote full participation for the student
- Ensure accurate and clear conveyance of spoken and signed content
