Key Qualifications:
- Valid licensure to practice as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or higher
- Proven experience providing 1:1 interpretation, preferably within pediatric or school-based settings
- Strong understanding of the communication needs and educational accommodations for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
- Willingness to work on-site, full-time, and collaborate effectively with educators and support staff
- Travel professionals welcome
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, culturally appropriate ASL interpretation for one student throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, educators, peers, and staff
- Support the student’s access to both academic content and social interactions
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to individualized education planning as appropriate
- Adapt interpreting approach to meet the learning and developmental needs of the assigned student
