Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting within educational or school settings
- Appropriate certification or licensure for Sign Language Interpreting/Teaching (as required by state or district guidelines)
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Previous work in an elementary school environment is a plus
- Comfortable providing both direct support to students and collaborating with teaching staff
Responsibilities:
- Deliver sign language interpretation services for students, faculty, and staff within the elementary school setting
- Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and support staff
- Travel to multiple classrooms or sites as an itinerant interpreter/teacher
- Support student engagement, understanding, and participation in educational activities
- Assist with lesson delivery, classroom activities, and the creation of accessible materials
- Work closely with educational teams to develop strategies that address individual student needs
