As a valued member of our virtual interpreting team, you'll be collaborating closely with teachers, staff, and families to ensure seamless access to classroom instruction and extracurricular activities for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. You'll play a central role in fostering inclusive learning, using your expertise to bridge gaps and enhance understanding.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Holds a 3.5 or higher score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
- Possesses demonstrated experience providing sign language interpreting services in an educational (K-12) environment
- Familiarity with a range of communication modes (ASL, English Sign Systems, etc.)
- Comfortable working in virtual/remote environments and using web-based meeting platforms
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to commit to a full-time schedule for the duration of the contract
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities virtually in real time
- Collaborate with educational staff to support individual student needs
- Adapt interpreting style as necessary to facilitate understanding and engagement
- Maintain professional, confidential, and ethical standards throughout assignments
