What You’ll Need:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school environment
- Ability to support communication between students, staff, and teachers
- Understanding of confidentiality and professionalism when working with student information
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Appropriate state or national certification (such as EIPA, RID, or relevant credential)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services to facilitate clear communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special educators, and related support staff to ensure full student participation
- Adapt interpretation methods to suit individual student needs and educational settings
- Assist with school activities, meetings, and events requiring interpretation services
- Maintain accuracy, impartiality, and professional boundaries at all times
- Support students’ academic and social development by ensuring access to all instructional material and classroom dialogue
