Qualifications:
- Valid VQAS Level 3 or higher, or a minimum 3.5 EIPA with the written section passed
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience interpreting in school or educational settings is preferred
- Professional, reliable, and able to work collaboratively
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Passion for supporting student success and accessibility
Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one sign language interpreting services for a 3rd-grade student throughout the school day
- Accurately convey spoken language and signed communication between the student and others
- Collaborate closely with educational staff, adapting interpreting methods to meet the student's needs
- Support the student’s access to classroom instruction, activities, and peer interactions
- Maintain detailed records and participate in team meetings as needed
- Encourage student independence while providing appropriate levels of support
