Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Oroville, CA

This contract opportunity is perfect for Sign Language Interpreters or qualified ASL Paras looking to work onsite in a dynamic school environment. Full-time positions are available with approximately 30 hours per week, typically covering about 6 hours per day. You’ll be facilitating access to both educational content and social interaction for middle and high school students, with your site preference taken into consideration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting to enable effective communication between deaf or hard of hearing students, their peers, and school personnel
- Assist students with academic concepts in subjects such as reading, writing, and math
- Support students in developing vocational and everyday living skills as needed
- Monitor and assist students during classroom, outdoor, and community-based activities
- Adapt to a variety of instructional settings to promote student success
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to foster an inclusive learning environment
Qualifications:
- Certification from the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf, or a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment
- Consideration for candidates with an EIPA score under 4.0 (referred to as ASL Paras)
- Proven ability to interpret effectively and sensitively in an educational environment
- Preference for experience working with middle and/or high school students
