Qualifications & Experience:
- Current Alabama SLI/Interpreter license or permit (required)
- Recognized interpreting certification preferred (RID, EIPA, BEI, or equivalent)
- Experience in a school setting or with K-12 students is highly valued
- Prior 1:1 interpreting experience is a plus
- Demonstrated history of reliable attendance and fulfilling long-term assignments
- Must be able to work the full school schedule without accommodations for late arrivals, early departures, or modified shifts
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a student throughout the school day
- Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to ensure seamless communication access
- Assist in academic settings as well as school-related activities, promoting student engagement
- Adapt interpreting strategies to best support the student’s needs while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
