Bring your expertise to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing and make a lasting difference in their daily educational experience. This contract opportunity is ideal for dedicated professionals ready to work full-time—approximately 30 hours per week—in a dynamic K-12 setting throughout the 2026-2027 school year and beyond, with an immediate start date. Onsite assignments focus on facilitating communication and academic progress for middle and high school students, helping bridge gaps between students, classroom teachers, peers, and school personnel.
Desired skills and experience:
- Proficiency in sign to voice and voice to sign interpreting within an educational environment
- Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, or an EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment score of 4.0 or above
- Candidates with an EIPA under 4.0 will be considered for ASL Paraeducator roles
- Ability to assist students across academic subjects (reading, writing, math), and support their vocational and daily living skill development
- Experience working effectively with students during classroom, community, and extracurricular activities
- Reliable, compassionate, and flexible approach to supporting student needs
- Preference given to interpreters interested in working with either middle and/or high school populations
Key responsibilities:
- Facilitate open and accurate communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing within classroom and school settings
- Assist students in accessing curriculum, participating in classroom discussions, and engaging socially with peers
- Monitor and support students throughout the school day, during outdoor or community activities
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to foster an inclusive learning environment
