Make a meaningful impact as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a high school student in an adaptive classroom environment. This on-site, contract opportunity runs from August 3, 2026, through May 21, 2027, and offers you the chance to work closely with students and educators in a supportive, engaging setting.
Your Role at a Glance:
- Provide comprehensive communication services for a high school student who uses a wheelchair.
- Facilitate classroom learning and social participation by interpreting educational and interpersonal interactions.
- Adapt interpreting techniques to support participation in both academic and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, and staff for seamless student support.
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all classroom and school settings.
- Ensure compliance with all district and educational regulations.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (candidates with a score below 3.5 are encouraged to reach out for further discussion).
- Proven experience in educational settings, particularly with students receiving adaptive services.
- Strong understanding of individualized accommodation needs for students with physical and communication challenges.
- Ability to work on-site as specified by parental and district requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.
This contract role is for 37.5 hours per week, giving you the stability of a consistent schedule throughout the school year.
