Qualifications and Skills:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with relevant certification or licensure for educational settings
- Previous school-based interpreting experience or work with behavioral programs is highly valued
- Ability to adapt interpreting style for students adjusting to mainstream settings
- Knowledge of assistive technology, such as ALDs and cochlear implants, is a plus
- Compassionate approach, patience, and excellent communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time ASL interpretation for instructional periods, totaling about 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Thursday (26 hours per week)
- Collaborate with teaching staff to facilitate student engagement and inclusion
- Encourage the student's adjustment and participation after transitioning from a Residential Day School Program
- Uphold confidentiality and comply with school district policies and ethical guidelines
