Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with strong interpretive skills.
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings, especially working 1:1 with young children.
- Relevant interpreter certification or licensure according to state and national standards.
- Ability to adapt communication styles to suit a Pre-K audience.
- Collaborative attitude and willingness to work alongside teaching staff, therapists, and families.
- Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to student confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpretation between staff, peer groups, and a Pre-K 4 student throughout daily routines and educational activities.
- Support the student’s full participation and understanding during lessons, play, and classroom interactions.
- Contribute to an inclusive and encouraging classroom environment.
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
- Communicate and collaborate with the education team to support the student’s academic and social development.
- Participate in meetings or parent conferences as needed.
