Key Qualifications:
- Current and valid licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or higher
- Prior experience providing 1:1 interpreting in pediatric or school settings preferred
- Deep understanding of child development, educational environments, and IEP protocols
- Ability to clearly and accurately interpret between American Sign Language and English
- Highly organized, personable, and able to adapt to changing needs
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter for a student, facilitating clear communication between student, peers, and school staff
- Support student engagement, understanding, and inclusion in all classroom and school activities
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and participation
- Collaborate proactively with teachers, therapists, and administrative staff to address students’ unique learning requirements
- Ensure ethical and confidential conduct in all interpreting tasks
