Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting in educational or school settings preferred
- Knowledge of Deaf culture and related instructional needs
- Ability to interpret classroom dialogue and activities fluidly
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Professional certification such as EIPA, RID, or comparable qualification is highly valued
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation during classroom lessons, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Support students’ understanding and participation in all school events and academic interactions
- Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and support staff to ensure effective communication access
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all assignments
- Assist with modifications or accommodations as outlined in student IEPs
- Foster a respectful and encouraging atmosphere for student development
