You’ll work closely with a middle school student who recently moved from Colorado, providing essential support within a general education setting. This position offers a consistent, full-time weekday schedule through the end of the 2026-2027 school year, helping to create a stable learning environment for a student who depends on your remarkable skills.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or above (per new South Carolina requirements)
- Successful completion of the EIPA written assessment
- High school diploma or higher
- Ability to pass a background check
- Commitment to signing and following the SLI Code of Ethics
Preferred Experience:
- Previous school-based interpreting experience
- Comfort interpreting in both classroom and small group settings
- Experience supporting students transitioning into new educational environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for a middle school student in general education classes
- Collaborate closely with educators to ensure full participation of the student across the curriculum
- Support the student’s communication needs, except during a dedicated session with a DHH teacher
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards at all times
- Participate in IEP meetings as needed to support student goals
This role, based at either Tanglewood Middle School or Beck International Academy in Greenville, offers full-time hours during school days for reliable work-life balance. Assignments are set to begin immediately and extend through late May 2027, allowing you the opportunity to see tangible progress in your student’s journey.
