Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting a middle school student in a vibrant educational setting. This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) connects you directly with a transfer student from Colorado, providing consistent 1:1 interpreting throughout the school day—excluding a dedicated session with their DHH teacher for IEP services.
Your work hours will align with the school schedule, with start and end times varying slightly depending on final placement. You’ll become an integral part of the student’s daily experience, empowering participation in general education classes and helping foster an inclusive, accessible school environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- EIPA performance score of 3.5 or higher (per recent South Carolina requirements)
- Completion of the written EIPA test
- Minimum of a high school diploma
- Ability to pass a background check
- Commitment to uphold the SLI Code of Ethics (with agreement signed during onboarding)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation for academic content and peer interactions
- Support the student’s engagement across all general education settings
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all school and student matters
- Coordinate effectively with classroom teachers, special education staff, and the DHH team
