Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students and teams dedicated to accessibility! We are seeking skilled Sign Language Interpreters to provide essential communication access in a school setting near Springfield, OR. This full-time assignment runs approximately from August 24, 2026, through July 15, 2027, with up to five openings available. While in-person interpretation is the primary preference, hybrid and virtual configurations will also be considered.
As an interpreter, you’ll collaborate with an established team that includes Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) specialists and other supportive professionals. The specific caseload is still being finalized, ensuring successful candidates are matched thoughtfully based on strengths and placement needs.
What We’re Seeking:
- Current credential or licensure to provide Sign Language Interpretation in educational settings
- Prior experience working in schools or with students preferred
- Strong expressive and receptive skills in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent professionalism, adaptability, and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between DHH students, staff, and peers
- Participate in classroom activities, meetings, and school events as needed
- Collaborate closely with DHH professionals and other educational staff
- Adapt interpreting style to suit various learning environments and age groups
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold standards of professional conduct at all times
