Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to interpret in educational environments with students of varied ages
- Proficiency and professionalism in an academic setting
- VQAS Level III or a 3.5 EIPA score preferred (or willingness to obtain, pending confirmation)
- Ability to start the VA Dept. of Social Services background check process immediately
- Completion of a VA-approved TB test prior to assignment
- Previous experience in an on-call, adaptable role is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide timely, accurate interpreting for students, staff, and parents as needed across potentially multiple school sites
- Support communication access for classroom instruction and school events
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold district policies with professionalism
- Adapt to varied caseloads and assignments as determined by district needs
