Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Suffolk, Virginia

Key Qualifications:
- Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher, plus a passing score on the written component
- Alternatively, other qualifications accepted by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH)
- Familiarity with school environments and a passion for supporting student success
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to facilitate clear, accurate communication
Core Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL) accurately for students, staff, and faculty
- Provide interpretation services across classroom activities, meetings, assemblies, and extracurriculars
- Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to tailor interpreting services for students’ individual needs
- Maintain professional ethics and confidentiality in all assignments
