Put your sign language expertise to work in an educational environment supporting students who rely on your skill and compassion. This contract opportunity involves providing sign language interpretation services throughout the school year, primarily in elementary settings, with occasional assignments in middle and high schools. Key Qualifications:

  • Valid National Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • EIP assessment score of 3.5 or above
  • Ability to pass fingerprint background check and drug screening
  • Experience in school settings preferred, but confident interpreters from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply
  • Flexible in working across elementary, and occasionally, middle and high school environments
  • Professionalism, reliability, and clear communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation for 1–2 assigned students, facilitating communication in classroom and school activities
  • Adapt language and approach to best fit individual student needs
  • Collaborate with educators and staff to support students’ IEPs and educational goals
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of interpreting
  • Commit to regular and punctual attendance across assigned campuses

This assignment runs from August through early June (following the academic calendar) for 32 hours per week. You'll primarily serve elementary school students, with minimal travel to middle and high school campuses as needed. A brief prescreen interview may be part of the selection process, and candidates should be prepared to share their availability for this step between 9–11am and 2–3pm EST (with some flexibility as needed).
