Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Tacoma, WA

Ideal candidates bring:
- A minimum of a 4.0 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score or RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification
- Experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably K-12
- A thorough understanding of Deaf culture and American Sign Language
- Ability to adapt to various learning environments and individual needs
- Professionalism, strong communication, and a collaborative approach
Your responsibilities include:
- Delivering direct, 1:1 American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for assigned students in classrooms and school activities
- Effectively conveying spoken and signed content to bridge communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional codes of conduct
- Collaborating with educational staff to accommodate students’ specific communication requirements
- Supporting the student’s participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
