A contract position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter specializing in Telehealth services within a school environment. This role supports effective communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing through remote platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate sign language interpretation for live telehealth sessions between students and healthcare providers or educational staff.
- Collaborate with educators, counselors, and healthcare professionals to ensure accessibility during remote interactions.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interpreting assignments.
- Adapt interpreting strategies to suit various age groups and communication needs.
- Keep detailed records of interpreting sessions and report any concerns or barriers to appropriate personnel.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated expertise as a sign language interpreter, preferably with certification or licensure recognized in Texas.
- Experience providing interpretation services in educational and/or telehealth settings.
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and communication access needs.
- Proficiency using teleconferencing platforms and related technology.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
- Background check clearance as required for school work.
