Bring your expertise as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to a dynamic, student-centered environment supporting a pediatric student on a 1:1 basis. This full-time, on-site contract opportunity enables you to make a meaningful impact by facilitating clear communication and supporting academic and social success.
You will work closely with educational staff and a designated student, ensuring access to classroom content and active participation in school activities. Qualifications and Requirements:
- Valid state licensure to practice as a Sign Language Interpreter
- ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or higher (required)
- Previous experience providing 1:1 support in pediatric or school-based settings preferred
- Strong knowledge of ASL and other interpreting modalities as needed
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards
- Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to fostering an inclusive environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-to-one interpreting services for a designated pediatric student
- Support communication between the student, peers, and educational staff throughout the school day
- Assist with classroom interactions, extracurricular activities, and school events as needed
- Contribute to team meetings regarding the student’s progress and needs
- Adapt interpreting style to suit different academic contexts and student preferences
