Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Seeking candidates with either a VQAS Level III or at least a 3.5 EIPA score (final credential requirement will be confirmed prior to placement)
- Experience working within school settings or with K-12 students is highly desirable
- Must meet all time-sensitive credentialing requirements, including starting the VA Dept. of Social Services check immediately and obtaining a current VA TB Test
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Flexibility and reliability for on-call assignments across various locations as needs are identified
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students, teachers, and staff during classroom activities and school events
- Facilitate clear communication and foster inclusion for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards in all assignments
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure students’ educational goals are met
- Adjust to various grade levels and adapt interpreting style to support individual student needs
