Sign Language Interpreter in Woodland, CA
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting middle school students by providing essential communication access as a Sign Language Interpreter. This contract position, beginning as soon as possible and extending through June 2027, allows you to use your expertise in American Sign Language while making a meaningful impact in an educational setting. The role offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, totaling 37.5 hours each week.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid 4.0 or above EIPA or RID certification required
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational or youth-centered environments strongly preferred
- Strong command of receptive and expressive ASL skills
- Ability to collaborate professionally with teams of teachers, staff, and families
- High level of professionalism, dedication, and ethical commitment
- Adaptability to meet the unique needs of middle school students
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, activities, and discussions for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers in a variety of academic and social settings
- Prepare for classroom topics and adapt interpreting methods as needed for diverse subject matter
- Support educators in fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct
