Qualifications and Requirements:
- Holds a valid Georgia DOE Sign Language Interpreter license (must meet all state requirements; no HR waivers permitted)
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), with the ability to clearly facilitate communication between students and staff
- Prior experience working in a K-12 educational environment is highly desirable
- Excellent interpersonal skills, dependability, and adaptability in dynamic school settings
- Strong adherence to professional and ethical standards relevant to interpreting in schools
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person interpreting services for assigned students to facilitate communication in all school settings
- Support learning and participation for students who are deaf or hard of hearing during classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, and school events
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to adapt to evolving needs throughout the academic year
- Maintain confidentiality and abide by all educational and district policies
