Sign Language Interpreter in Alpharetta, GA

Step into a meaningful role supporting students as an American Sign Language Interpreter within an educational setting. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work directly with an individual student (1:1 SLI) in a dynamic learning environment. You’ll split your time between dedicated onsite support at the Alliance Academy and providing services as a floating interpreter where needed, ensuring continuity and accessibility for all learners.
This position is full-time and runs through the end of the current school year, with the possibility to continue until May 27th, 2027. Candidates must be ready to start right away and possess the required Georgia Department of Education SLI License—waivers are not available for this assignment.
Qualifications
- Current and valid GA DOE SLI License (required; no HR waivers accepted)
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and transliteration techniques
- Experience working in K-12 educational settings preferred
- Strong understanding of classroom dynamics and ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and students
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptable and able to manage multiple responsibilities with flexibility
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time ASL interpretation and transliteration for a single student within academic settings
- Facilitate clear communication between student, peers, and staff
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times
- Adapt interpreting techniques to suit different subject matter and classroom activities
- Support inclusion and equal access to educational opportunities
- Serve as a floating interpreter as schedules require
