Critical Skills and Experience:

  • Current professional license and eligibility to work as a Sign Language Interpreter
  • Minimum ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 required
  • Experience with 1:1 pediatric interpreting within a school environment
  • Strong commitment to ensuring effective communication and access to learning for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly with educators, staff, and families

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Deliver one-on-one ASL interpretation services in classroom and extracurricular settings to ensure equal access to instruction for pediatric students
  • Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and peers
  • Participate in IEP meetings, staff discussions, and professional development as needed
  • Maintain ethical standards, confidentiality, and compliance with school policies and interpreting best practices
  • Adapt interpreting style to fit the needs and preferences of individual students
