Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language, with an ASLPI score of 4.1 or above
- Previous experience interpreting in school settings strongly preferred
- Ability to adapt quickly and communicate effectively with students, staff, and families
- Dependable, professional, and committed to confidentiality
- Flexible and approachable, with a heartfelt dedication to student advocacy
- Must be able to work on-site daily
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 interpretive support to a student, ensuring full classroom participation
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between student, teachers, and peers
- Assist educators in understanding and applying best practices for deaf or hard-of-hearing students
- Maintain records of interpreting activities as required by the school
- Collaborate with the IEP team and ensure compliance with educational accessibility standards
