What You'll Bring:
- Valid State of Oregon Sign Language Interpreter Certification/Licensure
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills
- Previous experience interpreting within educational settings preferred
- Capacity to work effectively with children and youth from kindergarten through twelfth grade
- Strong commitment to confidentiality, equal access, and student advocacy
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person ASL interpretation for students, staff, and families for classroom instruction and school activities
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication within academic and extracurricular settings
- Work collaboratively with teachers, special education teams, and other staff to adapt interpreting to varied learning environments
- Serve as a communication bridge, ensuring students’ full participation in their educational programs
- Support documentation requirements as directed by school staff
- Uphold integrity and professionalism, adhering to ethical standards of interpreting practice
- Engage in ongoing professional development as required
