Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Cicero, Illinois

This contract role offers the opportunity to work with K-12 learners in a mainstream classroom setting, where your expertise will directly contribute to student access and success.
Bring your passion for effective communication and your professional credentials to a flexible schedule, working 32.5 hours per week across 5 days. Your primary responsibility will be interpreting for a small caseload of 1 to 5 students, adapting quickly between individual and group support as needs arise throughout the school day.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
- Experience in educational environments, particularly with K-12 students, is highly valued
- EIPA credential accepted by schools required
- Strong ability to facilitate communication in real-time within mainstream classroom settings
- Adaptability to work one-on-one or with multiple students, sometimes simultaneously
- Commitment to fostering inclusive learning opportunities for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction and interactions to ensure full access for students
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and other interpreters
- Maintain professional confidentiality and comply with ethical standards
- Adjust interpreting methods as needed for students’ individual learning needs
- Assist students in both academic and extracurricular settings when required
