Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | South Boston, Virginia

Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 is required
- Previous experience interpreting within educational environments preferred
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and able to interpret classroom instruction, activities, and events
- Ability to collaborate with educators, students, and support staff
- Professional communication skills and a strong sense of confidentiality
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken English into Sign Language and vice versa during classroom instruction, school events, and meetings
- Facilitate clear communication between students, staff, and peers
- Ensure an inclusive educational experience by accurately conveying information and maintaining the student’s access to all school activities
- Adapt interpretation methods as needed for different subjects and student needs
- Contribute to progress meetings and collaborate with the educational team
This full-time position offers 37.5 hours each week, giving you consistent engagement with the school community.
