Desired Qualifications & Skills:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills
- Certification appropriate for educational interpreters (EIPA, RID, or state-recognized credentials) is highly preferred
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school or youth-focused environment
- Comfort working in both individual and group settings
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards
- Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities
- Commitment to supporting an inclusive, accessible educational experience
Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and ASL for students and staff
- Facilitate effectively in classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Support students' language access and learning goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and special education staff to adapt communication as needed
- Maintain accurate and ethical interpretation services at all times
