Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid interpreter licensure suitable for school settings
- ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or higher
- Prior experience as a 1:1 interpreter working with pediatric populations
- Strong understanding of educational environments and the needs of deaf or hard-of-hearing students
- Well-versed in both expressive and receptive American Sign Language skills
- Reliable, punctual, and adaptable for on-site work
- Must be able to work collaboratively with educators and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated, high-quality ASL interpretation for one student in a classroom and throughout the school day
- Foster inclusive communication between the student, staff, and peers
- Adapt interpreting approaches to different subjects and classroom activities
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all interactions
- Engage with the educational team to monitor and support student progress
- Participate in relevant meetings and provide feedback on communication needs
