What we’re seeking:
- Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (state/national).
- Solid experience supporting students within a school environment.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous 1:1 pediatric experience, especially at the high school level, is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and flexibility amid varying classroom dynamics.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time interpretation between ASL and spoken English for a 10th-grade student across classes and school activities.
- Work one-on-one to support both academic understanding and social interaction.
- Partner with the educational team to adapt materials and communication styles as needed.
- Serve as a positive advocate, encouraging the student’s self-expression and confidence.
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and collaborate in IEP meetings as needed.
- Foster a safe and respectful environment that reflects the diverse needs of the student population.
