Key Qualifications:
- Valid GA DOE Sign Language Interpreter license (strictly required; no substitutions or waivers permitted)
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation in educational environments
- Comfortable working 1:1 with students and adapting to different classroom situations
- Ability to effectively bridge communication between students, staff, and families
- Professional, collaborative approach and reliability
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct interpretation services for a designated student, ensuring full access to classroom instruction and activities
- Adapt interpreting techniques to various subject matters and age groups as needed
- Travel as a part-time interpreter between the specialized academy and other designated locations within the district.
- Work closely with educational staff to facilitate an inclusive learning environment
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district policies and professional standards
- Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
