Key Details:
- 0.4 FTE position beginning August 18th, extending through the full academic year
- Work as part of a collaborative support team to facilitate communication and learning for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing
Qualifications:
- Possess a valid State of Minnesota Teaching License in American Sign Language for grades K-12
- Proven experience and proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter within educational environments
- Demonstrated ability to interpret in both classroom and small group settings
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with teachers, staff, students, and families
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate sign language interpretation for students, ensuring effective access to curriculum and school activities
- Collaborate with special education staff, classroom teachers, and student support teams
- Adapt interpreting approaches to fit a variety of classroom subjects and age groups
- Facilitate clear understanding between students, instructors, and peers during lessons, meetings, and extra-curricular events
- Support students’ academic and social development through clear communication access
