Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong command of interpreting techniques
- Previous experience providing sign language interpretation in educational settings is highly valued
- Certification or licensure as required by state or school district standards for interpreters
- Ability to adapt interpretation styles to various classroom and meeting scenarios
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach with both students and staff
- Reliability, professionalism, and strong organizational abilities
Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, confidential sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and school events
- Facilitate clear communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and support personnel
- Work closely with teachers and staff to adapt to schedules and address individual student needs
- Maintain impartiality and adhere to professional interpreting ethics
- Support the educational goals of students by ensuring they have equal access to all school programs and resources
