In this role, you’ll:
- Collaborate closely with teachers and educational staff to meet each student’s individual needs
- Monitor student comprehension, offering instructional or behavioral reinforcement as directed by classroom teachers
- Facilitate classroom communication by introducing and explaining new vocabulary, supporting instruction, and encouraging students’ self-advocacy
- Reinforce classroom routines and contribute to a positive learning environment
- Provide assistance to teachers and staff when possible, while maintaining your focus on ASL language support
Desired Qualifications:
- Current and valid American Sign Language License (as required by state regulations)
- Experience as a school-based sign language interpreter or teacher of American Sign Language is preferred
- Knowledge of best practices in ASL language facilitation and understanding of educational environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students and staff alike
