Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other signing methods as required by student's IEPs
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, or eligibility to obtain required state credentials
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings strongly preferred
- Understanding of confidentiality and ethical guidelines for interpreters in schools
- Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
- Adaptability and commitment to fostering inclusive learning experiences
Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services during classroom instruction, school events, meetings, and other activities
- Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Assist in educational and social environments to promote student participation and engagement
- Support the implementation of students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and adhere to school policies
- Collaborate with special education staff, teachers, and families as needed
