Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, such as RID, EIPA, or equivalent credentials
- Experience supporting students in educational or school-based environments strongly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to interpret in varied classroom settings and adapt to diverse student needs
- Strong collaboration skills with staff, educators, and families
- High professional standards: discretion, dependability, and a positive, supportive presence
Primary Responsibilities:
- Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with teaching staff to reinforce effective communication strategies
- Provide one-on-one or group interpreting for academic and non-academic school activities as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Support students’ access to curriculum and help foster their social and academic inclusion
- Adjust interpreting techniques to meet individual student needs and grade levels
- Participate in professional development and school meetings when appropriate
