- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state credentials)
- Previous experience providing interpreting services in educational settings preferred
- Comfortable working directly with high school students and adapting communication style as needed
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering student success
- Ability to work on-site for the entirety of the school year
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective ASL interpreting services for high school students in classroom settings and related school activities
- Facilitate clear communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their peers, and staff
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and special education teams to support individual student plans
- Maintain professional standards of confidentiality and ethical conduct
- Assist in fostering a positive, accessible educational experience for all students
