Desired Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as RID/NIC or equivalent)
- Previous experience working with high school-aged students preferred
- Ability to interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school events clearly and accurately
- Understanding of educational terminology and IEP/504 processes is an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to collaborate with educators and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, in-person interpreting services for one or more high school students within a classroom and throughout the campus during the academic year
- Support student participation in all school-related activities, including instruction, assemblies, extracurriculars, and social events
- Work closely with teachers and other personnel to understand lesson goals and any student-specific needs
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards at all times
- Adapt interpreting style to suit various educational settings and individual learning requirements
