In this role, you will facilitate effective communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, helping them engage fully in their academic experience. You’ll typically serve 1–2 students at a time, ensuring a personalized and attentive approach, with assignments across both elementary and high school campuses.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, compliant with state and educational standards
- Demonstrated skill in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with interpreting protocols in school environments
- Experience supporting K–12 students in classroom and extracurricular settings
- Ability to adapt interpreting styles to meet students’ needs across a variety of subjects and age groups
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
- Adaptable to both onsite and virtual work arrangements
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services during classroom instruction, assemblies, and other school functions
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure equitable access for students
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies
- Adjust communication approaches as needed for student and situational requirements
- Document and report on student progress as required
