Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum ASLPI score of 4.1 required
- Demonstrated experience in pediatric or school-based interpreting, ideally in a 1:1 setting
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, special education teams, and administrators
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and promoting student independence
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, in-classroom interpreting services for a pediatric student throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between the student, peers, staff, and educators
- Support the student’s language development and engagement with educational materials and social interactions
- Adapt interpreting style to the student’s needs and classroom dynamics
- Frequently collaborate with the educational team to ensure an optimal learning environment
- Maintain the highest ethical standards and serve as a communication liaison
