Qualifications:
- National or state certification in Sign Language Interpretation (or equivalent credentials)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Previous experience working in a school or similar educational setting is highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Compassionate, patient, and responsive to young learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation services for an 8th-grade student throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between student, teachers, staff, and peers
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and extracurricular activities as needed
- Collaborate with school personnel to optimize the learning experience and adapt communication methods
- Support the student’s academic and social development by encouraging participation and engagement
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation as required by the school
