This contract position is dedicated to working 1:1 with pediatric clients, making a positive impact in an educational setting close to East Lansing, MI. Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Proficient in American Sign Language with an ASLPI score of 4.1 or above
- At least one year of experience working 1:1 with pediatric clients in educational or similar settings
- Demonstrated knowledge of interpreting best practices and the ability to adapt communication styles for children
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families
- Must be reliable, flexible, and committed to maintaining a professional standard at all times
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality interpretation services for a designated pediatric student, facilitating effective communication between the student and others in the school setting
- Work closely with teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure the student’s educational needs are met
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all relevant laws and ethical standards governing educational interpretation
- Support student participation in classroom activities, school events, and therapy sessions as needed
- Serve as a positive role model and advocate for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students’ inclusion
