Pediatric 1:1 Sign Language Interpreter in East Lansing, MI

An exciting opportunity awaits experienced Sign Language Interpreters eager to make a positive impact in the educational field. This full-time, on-site contract position serves as a 1:1 interpreter for a pediatric student, supporting communication and learning throughout the school day. Located in the vibrant East Lansing area, this role is open to both local and travel professionals who are passionate about inclusive education and skilled in American Sign Language.
Key Qualifications:
- Current licensure/certification to practice as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or higher
- Experience working 1:1 with pediatric students preferred, especially in academic settings
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and the needs of K-12 learners
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with students, educators, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpreting services for a pediatric student in classroom and school environments
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between the student, teachers, peers, and other school personnel
- Ensure educational access and engagement for the student in accordance with IEP/504 plans
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Support the implementation of best practices in educational interpreting
