Sign Language Interpreter in Elgin, IL

What You’ll Bring:
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within schools or working with children
- Background or certification as a Teacher for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Active ISBE Approval or IDHHC credential (PEL not required)
- Strong understanding of educational interpreting protocols and Deaf culture
- Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and collaboration
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students and staff in classroom and school settings
- Facilitate clear communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and other school personnel
- Contribute insights during IEP meetings and collaborate on educational plans
- Support classroom activities, adapting as needed to promote engagement and understanding
- Uphold ethical standards in line with educational and interpreting best practices
