Key Qualifications:
- Proven proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter within educational settings
- Background or experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- ISBE Approval or IDHHC certification required (PEL not necessary)
- Ability to effectively interpret spoken and signed communications for students and staff
- Professionalism, adaptability, and clear communication skills
- Willingness to collaborate closely with teaching teams and support student achievement
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpreting services in classrooms and school activities
- Facilitate communication between students, staff, and families to support educational goals
- Adapt interpreting approach based on student needs and classroom context
- Maintain confidentiality and support an inclusive learning environment
- Participate in IEP meetings and consult with educational teams as needed
- Follow all district policies and adhere to relevant codes of conduct
