Key qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher is required
- Full-time, consistent availability
- Prior experience in a school setting strongly preferred
- Relevant licensure or certification as per state guidelines (to be confirmed)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
- Reliable transportation for on-site presence
Primary responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa for students and staff during instructional activities and school events
- Facilitate inclusion by supporting student participation in both academic and extracurricular settings
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other staff to enhance student success
- Adapt interpreting approaches to fit individual student needs and classroom requirements
- Comply with all standards set by educational and interpreting professional organizations
