Key Qualifications:
- Active state licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher is required
- Experience in school or educational settings is highly valued
- Strong receptive and expressive American Sign Language (ASL) skills
- Exceptional professionalism, reliability, and the ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and students
- Effective communication skills and a passion for supporting diverse student populations
Essential Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) for students, teachers, and staff
- Support student understanding during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with educators to adapt materials and ensure access to curriculum for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Maintain ethical standards, interpersonal boundaries, and confidentiality in all situations
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insights for student success
- Flexibly support various grade levels and subject areas as assigned
