Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school setting
- Knowledge of interpreting techniques and Deaf culture
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
- Relevant certifications, such as EIPA, NIC, or state licensure (preferred but not required)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for students in classroom and school activities
- Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Support direct instruction as needed, interpreting lessons, announcements, and school events
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
- Participate in educational planning meetings when appropriate
- Assist in fostering an inclusive environment for all students
